Tait's Tunes: Track 111

WE'RE NOT THERE YET, FOLKS

The Calgary story — two young people with cognitive disabilities not being able to attend their fourth year of high school — isn’t only a sign of 1970’s thinking of segregation: its timing is even, alarmingly, more perplexing … Last week the federal government passed the country’s first legislation on accessibility … The foundation, of course, is to build a future for Canadians with disabilities to have the dignity to equally enjoy our conies citizenship … Wonderful news …. but the Calgary story is a subtle — very subtle — that the journey is far from over in the mind shift of full inclusion of Canadian with disabilities.
