THE SMELL of popcorn — smothered with melted butter, magically forming into a thick yellow syrup — that got me. Every time. The first wonderful whiff sails past the ticket booth and is enjoyed by moviegoers who haven’t even shelled out for a ducat, but, the entertainment experience is already on. And, after securing my ticket, I bolted right for the concession stand and ordered the biggest order of popcorn. My tastebuds did cartwheels watching thousands of kernels of popcorn being dumped — lightly, of course — into one of those light bags. Raise your hand if you have scooped a handful of popcorn in your mouth before you paid for it yet. I sure did. It didn’t stop there. I needed red licorice, chocolates, and a big pop with extra ice, please. Then, it was into the theatre to get comfortable in anticipation of the main feature.
