ROB'S AUG 23 TEXT – PART 2

CREW.

IF YOU WERE LIVING IN EDMONTON, IN 1994, LISTENING TO POWER 92, YOU MIGHT REMEMBER STUNTS FOR STONES.  MY BUDDY ROB CHRISTIE AND AUDIE LYNDS RULED THEIR MORNING  AIRWAVES ON POWER 92.

THEY WERE GIVING AWAY TICKETS TO SEE THE ROLLING STONES WHO PERFORMED AT COMMONWEALTH STADIUM…BUT, YOU HAD TO DO SOMETHING WILD…A STUNT….HENCE THE CONTEST’S NAME, STUNTS FOR STONES.

OK…I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO WAVE OUT A JET….YOU KNOW, THOSE UNSUNG HEROES, USUALLY IN BLUE OVERALLS WITH ORANGE BATONS  WHO DIRECT AN AIRLINER OUT.

I TOLD ROB I WANTED TO DO THAT….FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW ME I LIVE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY AND USE A WHEELCHAIR.

AGAIN, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

I  CALLD MY FRIEND BARBIE SWANSON AND DAN MUMBEE AT AIR CANADA.  THEY HELPED ME GET UNDERNEATH WHERE THE BAGGAGE TRUCKS ROLL.

I WAS  HANDED BLUE OVERALLS AND TWO OF THOSE ORANGE BATONS.

SO PICTURE THIS .. I WAVED THE PILOT TO START PUSHBACK. AND THEN, WAVED LIKE I HAVE NEVER WAVED BEFORE.

TO THIS DAY I VIVIDLY REMEMBER THE PASSENGERS ON THE LOOKING OUT THE WINDOWS, AT THIS CHARACTER IN A WHEELCHAIR, WAVING THEM OUT.

BUT ….. THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE….MUCH WORSE.

ROB COULD HAVE INSISTED I BE THE PILOT.

THIS IS ROB CHRISTIE AND I’M ON CAM’S CREW.
